Garage door repair for Houston-area homes

When a garage door stops working properly it affects how you leave and return home every day. We find out why it is misbehaving, explain what we found in plain language, and agree the repair with you before any work begins.

What this service covers

  • Doors that will not open or close

Including doors that start and stop, reverse partway down, or only move when you hold the wall button.

  • Off-track and misaligned doors

Rollers out of the track, bent track sections, and doors that sit crooked when closed.

  • Noisy, jerky or slow operation

Worn rollers, dry or loose hardware, and hinge or bracket problems that make a door grind or shudder.

  • Cables, rollers, hinges and panels

Frayed or loose lift cables, cracked hinges, worn rollers and damaged sections.

Common signs

Book a repair visit if you notice any of the following:

  • The door will not move, or the opener runs but the door stays put
  • The door reverses before reaching the floor
  • One side sits higher than the other, or there is a gap along the bottom
  • Grinding, scraping or popping noises during travel
  • A cable looks frayed, slack or has come off its drum
  • A panel is cracked, dented or bowing

What the assessment involves

  1. We start by asking what you have noticed and when it began — the history often points to the cause.
  2. With the door safely secured, we check the springs, cables, rollers, hinges, track alignment and the opener, and we test the door’s balance and travel.
  3. We look for the underlying cause rather than only the visible symptom, so the same fault is less likely to return.

How we explain your options

Once we know what is wrong, we explain it in plain terms and describe your options — for example, repairing a part, replacing a worn component, or, where a door is near the end of its life, whether repair is still sensible.

We agree the work and the cost with you before starting. If you would like time to think it over, that is fine.

Questions about garage door repair

My door reverses before it closes. What does that mean?

Most often the safety sensors near the floor are blocked, dirty or out of alignment, or the opener is detecting resistance. Check that nothing is in the doorway and that both sensor lights are steady. If it keeps happening, the door may be binding or out of balance and should be assessed.

Can a dented or damaged panel be repaired?

Sometimes an individual section can be replaced, depending on the door model and whether matching parts are available. We will explain what is realistic for your door.

Is it safe to leave my door open until it is repaired?

If the door is stable and you can secure your home, leaving it where it is may be the safest option. If it is partly open, crooked or held by a damaged cable, keep clear of it and do not try to force it closed.
